Debbie's Corner.....

Over the course of our 15 year marriage, we have down-sized TWICE - we moved from California to Florida and sold everything that didn't fit in a pick up truck; then we sold everything before we moved to South Africa. Both times, it was very freeing to be free of "stuff". We were able to begin a new chapter in our lives with no "baggage"....

This past weekend, we had a garage sale to down-size from a 4-bedroom house that had 3 kids in it ... to try to fit into a  future 2-bedroom house without kids. Not as freeing as I thought it might have been - we weren't able to sell everything. That still leaves me with a feeling of still being in "this"..... the process we entered into 13 months ago when we took in the three kids.

I originally thought selling the stuff that we used for the kids would help us to take our first baby step out of family life and into "couple" life again. Not that easy - especially when we didn't sell everything. Not that I thought selling everything would make anything about this "easy", but I thought it would shed some kind of light on some kind of direction we are trying to find for ourselves.

I'm sure this IS part of the healing process and it will help our transition in some way, but just not feeling it today. The sentiment and memories behind the "stuff" fill my head....

Well, there is a reason we need to do this....go through this part of the process. It'll be a beautiful day when I can actually understand the "why" behind all of this!
